Scheveningen-22 and 23 - SCH-22 en 23 – Wiron 5 and 6
The SCH-22 and the SCH-23 are spantrawlers. They fish together for herring, with one big net in between the ships. The ships have a length of 55,6 meter and contain a complete deep-freeze factory for fish. Since herring is caught in the northern part of the North Sea, the trips last up to ten days. At the time of the photo documentary, these were the last two Dutch ships where the herring was cured at sea. Outside the herring season the ships fish other kinds of round fish.
At the present time, the ships sail under British flags and registration PL1100 and PL2200 (Plymouth).
The real, sea-cured Dutch New Herring exists no more.

De SCH-22 en SCH-23 zijn spantrawlers. Zij vissen samen met één groot net tussen de schepen in op haring. De schepen zijn 55,6 meter lang en bevatten een complete vriesfabriek voor vis. Omdat de haring in het Noordelijke deel van de Noordzee wordt gevangen duren de visreizen wel tien dagen. Deze schepen waren tijdens het maken van de reportage de laatste Nederlandse schepen waar de haring op zee wordt gekaakt. Buiten het haringseizoen vissen ze op andere soorten rondvis.
Inmiddels zijn de schepen uitgevlagd naar Engeland en varen onder de registratie PL1100 en PL2200. Er wordt nu geen echte zeegekaakte Hollandse Nieuwe meer aangevoerd.
